Description

Rich chocolate cookies swirled with thick ribbons of marshmallow fluff and packed with mini chocolate chips for a soft, gooey treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup Dutch-processed cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup marshmallow fluff (marshmallow crème)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla extract and beat until fully combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients on low speed until a thick dough forms. Fold in the mini chocolate chips.
  3. Dollop the marshmallow fluff directly on top of the chocolate dough. Using a butter knife or spatula, gently fold and swirl the fluff into the dough just 3 or 4 times. Do not overmix; distinct, thick streaks of white fluff should remain.
  4. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Chilling is required because the fluff makes the dough very sticky and wet.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Using a large cookie scoop, scoop mounds of the chilled dough, about 2 tablespoons each, onto the baking sheets, spacing them 3 inches apart. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes.

Notes

Do not overmix the marshmallow fluff into the dough. Keep distinct streaks of white fluff for the signature swirl, and chill the dough for at least 1 hour before baking.
